Overview

Zendesk is one of the world's most widely deployed customer-service and helpdesk platforms, and its 2026 offering is built around Zendesk AI — autonomous AI agents plus human-agent assist (Copilot) embedded in every plan. Starting May 11, 2026, Zendesk unified its AI agent packaging: agentic reasoning, multi-step procedures and external API integrations that previously required a premium add-on are now included across all Suite and Support plans. Pricing is per agent per month (annual billing), with a per-resolution AI meter on top of seat licenses.

Key Features

  • Autonomous AI agents: resolve customer requests across messaging, email, web forms and voice without human escalation; every claimed resolution is verified by an LLM before it counts as automated.
  • Agentic capabilities (since May 2026): agentic reasoning, multi-step procedures and external API integrations are now standard on all plans — no more "Essential" vs "Advanced" tiers.
  • Copilot (add-on): human-agent assist that suggests replies, summarizes conversations and triages tickets; billed separately at $50/agent/month.
  • Omnichannel workspace (Suite): unified ticketing plus email, voice, SMS, live chat, web/mobile messaging and social channels; Suite plans bundle messaging, chat and phone support with the helpdesk.
  • Self-service & knowledge: AI-powered answer suggestions, multiple help centers, multilingual content, knowledge-capture and content-gap detection.
  • Reporting & analytics: pre-built dashboards, custom reports, SLA management, skills-based routing, IVR phone trees and an AI-agent reporting dashboard that shows resolution tiers.
  • AI resolution tiers (since May 18, 2026): Assisted escalation (AI helped but a human resolved) and Contained resolution (AI handled it; no follow-up) do not draw from your allowance; only Verified resolutions — where an LLM confirms the AI fully resolved the request — are charged.

Pricing

Per agent per month on annual billing (monthly billing is higher). No free plan — 14-day free trial.

  • Support (ticketing only): Team ~$19, Professional ~$55, Enterprise ~$115.
  • Suite (omnichannel + AI): Team $55 (small teams, ~10 agents or fewer), Professional $115 (default for serious/mid-market teams), Enterprise ~$169+ (contact sales; up to 300 brands, sandbox, custom agent roles, advanced security).
  • AI meter: each plan includes a small allotment of automated resolutions per agent per month (Team 5, Professional 10, Enterprise 15). Overage is billed per resolution — third-party 2026 analyses put it at roughly $1.50/resolution on committed volume and ~$2.00 pay-as-you-go, declining toward $1.00 at high volume; since January 2026 the meter is auto-charged and uncapped.
  • Add-ons per agent/month: Copilot $50, Quality Assurance ~$35, Workforce Management ~$25, Workforce Engagement bundle (QA+WFM) ~$50, Advanced Data Privacy and Protection ~$50, Contact Center (voice/Amazon Connect) ~$83.
  • Fully loaded example: Suite Professional ($115) + Copilot ($50) + WFM/QA bundle ($50) ≈ $215/agent/month before AI resolution overage and voice.

Best For

Customer support and CX teams at e-commerce brands and SaaS companies — from small businesses needing affordable omnichannel helpdesk (Suite Team) to global enterprises requiring AI-driven automation, governance, custom roles and multi-brand support (Suite Enterprise).

FAQ

Is Zendesk AI included in my plan?

Since May 11, 2026, autonomous AI agents and agentic capabilities are included in every Zendesk Suite and Support plan — the separate "Advanced AI Agents" add-on was eliminated. Copilot remains a $50/agent/month add-on.

How does the AI meter work?

You get a small allowance of automated resolutions per agent per month (5–15 depending on tier). Beyond it, each additional Verified resolution (AI resolved it, confirmed by an LLM) is billed on a per-resolution meter; assisted or contained interactions don't consume your allowance.

What does Zendesk cost?

Support-only plans run ~$19–115/agent/month; the omnichannel Suite runs $55 (Team), $115 (Professional) and ~$169+ (Enterprise), all on annual billing, with add-ons (Copilot, QA, WFM, voice, data privacy) billed on top.

Is there a free plan?

No — only a 14-day free trial. Zendesk is seat-based (per agent/month) with no free tier.

What happened to legacy AI agents?

AI agents "Essential" and the legacy bot builder stop technical development on August 31, 2026, with full end-of-life shutdown on December 10, 2026.
