What is SaaS?
SaaS is software you use in the browser via subscription — the human-facing apps sellers already know.
SaaS (Software as a Service) is software delivered over the internet — usually a web app you log into, often billed by subscription. You do not install a heavy desktop package; the vendor hosts it and you use it in the browser (or a light client).
For online sellers, most “AI tools” people first meet are SaaS: product research dashboards, listing writers, ad managers, helpdesk inboxes, design studios.
SaaS on FlowCay
FlowCay groups human-facing ecommerce AI products under SaaS — tools you open and operate yourself. That is different from:
- Skills — playbooks an agent loads
- MCP — connectors agents use for live data/tools
- AI Agents — systems that run multi-step work (sometimes wrapping or calling SaaS)
When to pick SaaS vs agent stack
| You need… | Prefer |
|---|---|
| A polished UI you control day to day | SaaS |
| Repeatable playbooks for an agent host | Skills |
| Live API / marketplace access for agents | MCP |
| Autonomous or semi-autonomous multi-step work | AI Agent |
Many modern stacks mix them: a seller uses SaaS for review and approval, while an agent uses Skills + MCP to draft and fetch data.
